Today I met with Vikki and some members of my tutorial group to catch up on our projects so far. I feel this session was very helpful in galvanising my research question.
It sounds so obvious now when I write it, but trying to explain my question and what I was planning to do to Vikki, Rochelle and Rachel was so useful because it forced me to see the parts that I hadn’t given enough thought to – eg. the time frame for the entire project and also the nuts and bolts of how the workshop and how focus group would actually run. I had originally thought that I would need to run a control group and compare both groups at the end but Vikki pointed out that control groups in educational settings are problematic and from this advice I decided that the research should be more qualitative rather than quantitative enquiry into the students thoughts on Imposter Syndrome, being a psychological topic and difficult to measure, this definitely makes more sense.

In an attempt to feel less overwhelmed by this project I sat down in charted out the time I have left and written down tasks that I need to accomplish each week. I chose to do this visually so I can get an overall view of the timings – a long list of dates and jobs will just make me feel more panicked!
